Ms. Shawn has been dancing for 16 years and teaching for
nine years and is the sole product of Ingrid's Dance Theater. She
has been a competitive dancer for five years and has taken classes
with numerous teachers around the country through dance conventions
and competitions. Shawn helped win regional titles as a member of our
Interpose Dance Company and
is now the Assistant Director of the youth program at Ingrid's.
She is wonderful with the little ones! She truly has a gift to teach
our little ones at Ingrid's and helps develop those children she
touches in more ways than one. She has also helped in training our
older company members who started out with her and now train with
Ingrid. Ms. Shawn plans to continue her education in the future,
majoring in early childhood education.
Ms. Hart has been dancing
for 19 years and is yet another Ingrid's Dance Theater product.
She recently received her associate's degree in dance from Louisburg
College in Louisburg, North Carolina. Ms. Hart has had the opportunity
to study with some of the hottest choreographers in the country,
including Jerry Rose, Chris Smith and Barry Youngblood. She has
also trained at Broadway Dance Center in New York City and has worked
for the Hoctor's Dance Caravan Competition Circuit. She has taught
for 2 years in North Carolina and we are now pleased to have her
back teaching upcoming sudents and competition dancers at Ingrid's.
Ms. Laurabeth has been a competitive dancer at Ingrid's and has
won numerous awards for her performing talents. Ms. Laurabeth would
eventually like to pursue a performing career in dance.
After studying at Ingrid's for 14 years, Bettie Small (nee Skeens) is back, this time as an instructor. Bettie attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia on a partial scholarship, majoring in dance. Now, after marrying, Bettie has moved back to Virginia where she is excited to be teaching dance. In addition to her time spent at Ingrid's, she attends John Tyler Community College and will be transferring to Longwood University next fall to major in Psychology. Bettie will prove to be a great asset to our advanced training program—particularly with Modern dance—and we welcome her to Ingrid's with open arms.
We are proud to announce the addition of Keith Sutton as our newest staff member. Having studied with Ingrid since he was 12 years old, Keith continues a great tradition of former students returning to the studio to teach others. They just can't stay away for long! Keith stays quite busy when he is away from Ingrid's, both attending college and working full time. Mr. Sutton especially loves teaching hip-hop and we are very excited to have him on-board.
